Boolean Routing on Chordal Rings

چکیده
In this paper we consider the problem of routing messages in a network of processors conngured as a chordal ring. In particular we refer to the Boolean Routing model, and we introduce a new routing function for unidirectional and bidirectional chordal rings with degree four. This function requires O(n log n) bits of storage and O(n) time to compute, in the worst case. We also study some relations between our technique and Interval Routing Schemes.

Symmetry properties of chordal rings of degree 3
This paper presents the main properties of chordal rings of degree 3. This family of graphs is strongly related to circulant graphs, which are actually often called chordal rings too. The use of triangles in the plane to represent the vertices allows one to associate a plane tessellation to every chordal ring. By using this geometrical approach, we study the recognition and the isomorphism prob...
متن کاملCompact Routing on Chordal Rings of Degree Four yLata
A chordal ring G(n; c) of degree 4 is a ring of n nodes with chords connecting each vertex i to the vertex (i + c) mod n. In this paper, we investigate compact routing schemes on such networks. We show a routing scheme for any such network that requires O(log n) bits of storage at each node, and O(1) time to compute a shortest path to any destination. This improves on the results of 16] which g...
متن کاملPeriodically Regular Chordal Rings
ÐChordal rings have been proposed in the past as networks that combine the simple routing framework of rings with the lower diameter, wider bisection, and higher resilience of other architectures. Virtually all proposed chordal ring networks are nodesymmetric, i.e., all nodes have the same in/out degree and interconnection pattern. Unfortunately, such regular chordal rings are not scalable. In ...
متن کاملAll-to-all Optical Routing in Chordal Rings of Degree Four
We consider the problem of routing in networks employing all-optical routing technology. In such networks, information between nodes of the network is transmitted as light on ber-optic lines without being converted to electronic form in between. We consider switched optical networks that use the wavelength-division multiplexing (or WDM) approach. A WDM network consists of nodes connected by poi...
متن کاملPeriodically Regular Chordal Rings are Preferable to Double-Ring Networks
The susceptibility of ring networks to disconnection as a result of one or two node/link failures has led to a number of proposals to increase the robustness of such networks. One class of proposals, discussed primarily in the networking and communication communities, but also advocated for use in parallel and distributed systems, involves the provision of a second ring to improve system throug...
